Memories - late 60s, or 1970/71. It was a British Leyland rework of the Spitfire, with a bigger engine. In fact, it looks a whole lot like the Spitfire with a GT back. It was a pretty good car - very light with lots of horsepower for its size - but like all Triumphs it suffered from miserable front-end engineering and would understeer ferociously in a tight curve under power. Let up on the power, and the thing would practically lurch off the road. Aside from that peculiarity, it was a lot of fun.

    Max,

Thanks for the info. It’s got great lines. If I had garage, I’d be sorely tempted.

Bear in mind - Triumphs need two hours of maintenance for every hour of use. It was a pretty solid rule of thumb.

    Matt,

I’m a bit late to this, but it’s a Mk1 Triumph GT6 which Trimph only made between 1966 and 1968. The Mk1 is quite rare today (they only made around 16,000 of them). Fantastic car - known as the poor mans E-type Jaguar for obvious reasons.

Probably not the best car for the photographer though - when Triumph stuck the roof on the old Spitfire to make it, they forgot to ventilate it. Hence it gets really, really hot and steamy in there - and that’s when you’re on your own!
