   In Madison, every August 14th, they have what is known as “homeless night”. All of the leases for student apartments end at something like 6 p.m. on the 14th, and the new ones don’t begin for 24 hours. People are known to sleep out on the lawn/sidewalk/street with all their stuff. Alternatively, if you’ve got something you don’t want to move, you set it out with a sign that says “Free”. So much furniture is discarded that the city sends around special trucks to grab it.
