Ah - my kind of shot. I love these minimalist, geometric sorts of photos.
I have noticed from your photos that your stomping grounds must be in the mid-West, in some medium-sized town. This particular building probably dates from the very late 19th century, or maybe early 1900s - the arched brick work over the windows is characteristic of that time. I guess Indiana or Illinois? College town, maybe?
Just curious - I am from Michigan, myself, and most of my family from Northern Illinois. Nostalgia.
It’s Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, but I group up down in the Ozarks. I went to school in Grand Rapids, MI for a while.
I suspect you are right about the building dates. Champaign has great turn of the century bones, but a lot of it is getting torn down in the name of ‘Downtown Revitalization’.
Grand Rapids? There was a school there a couple of my high school buddies went to - Grand Valley State. That would have been forever ago - 1972.
I am living in Norfolk, Virginia - have been for almost 8 years now. I am watching the “revitalization” of this town, too. Sad, really - all sorts of Civil War era, and even ante-bellum buildings disappearing and parking lots, condos, and other monumentally bland dreck taking its place.
