I learned to drive in a 1950 GMC pickup truck on my Grandfather’s farm. It had a dash and interior very similar to this one. His had a push-button radio with vacuum tubes that took about 20 seconds to warm up. The starter button was on the floor, next to the accelerator pedal. I remember that ashtray.
Nice shot, and nice tones. Very appropriate for black and white.
Paul, that’s pretty much how it came off the scanner. This is HP5 pulled to 200, so the tonal range should be pretty smooth.
Bruce, it’s kind of a nostalgic shot for me too; this reminds me of the childhood trips to junk yards and antique car shows with my dad. I’ll probably send him a print of this. Glad you enjoyed it.

What a great shot - so much interesting stuff for the eye to look at. Did you have to do much fiddling after scanning to get the smooth tonal range?
